Job description

Under the general supervision of the Chief of the French Section in Language Services of the Corporate Services and Facilities (CSF) Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the candidate will provide accurate, timely and stylistically appropriate translations from English into French, using word processing, spreadsheet, and other relevant software, including CAT tools. Specifically, the selected candidate will: 

  • Translate, mostly without revision, texts covering the full range of Fund documents and publications. 
  • Revise and/or review translations prepared by freelancers. 
  • Post-edit machine-generated translations to ensure they are accurate, fluent, and contextually appropriate. Identify and research points of terminology, language, and subject matter during assignments consulting with authors and other experts to clarify ambiguities. 
  • Contribute to updating and maintaining the terminology database and related reference material. 
  • Provide guidance and assistance to freelance translators on IMF-specific concepts, specialized terminology and house style and conventions for French usage. 
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
