With the rapid progress in neural networks, machine learning and data analytics, natural language processing is becoming a key area for research and innovation. The EU is already dedicating efforts and funding to advancing these technologies, in particular through its Horizon 2020 Research programme and the Connecting Europe Facility. The online machine translation service, e-translation, is a key achievement of the CEF programme.
