The University of Trieste, in cooperation with Association Conference Interpreting – Past Present Future, AIIC Italia, the Association of Conference Interpreters of Slovenia and the Italian Ministry of Culture, has organised an exhibition dedicated to the lives of the interpreters of the International Military Tribunal in 1945-1946, the first of several Nuremberg Trials.
On that occasion, modern simultaneous interpretation as we know it today was used for the first time. For 11 months, three teams of twelve interpreters translated in this new mode of interpretation.
On top of the exhibition, which includes also the possibility to participate in a guided visit, there will be also several panel discussions. The purpose of the visit and of the panel discussions is not only to remember the work done by the interpreters in Nuremberg, but also to examine the legal aspects of the trials and their historical importance in the development of international law.
The events are taking place in Trieste between 26 January and 17 March 2022.
