PASS support programme for the accreditation of Danish interpreters – part 2

New Danish interpreters on the common ACI list

Welcome to 2 new Danish interpreters on the common ACI list!

In early September, we brought you news of the Danish PASS programme (Professional Accreditation Support Scheme) - a joint training initiative between the interpretation services of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Court of Justice, run for seriously deficient languages in terms of the number of available interpreters.

The first part of the PASS programme, focusing on SIM exercises, took place between 16 and 26 August. Three of the six participants passed the SIM part of the accreditation test and were subsequently invited to participate in the second part, focusing on consecutive interpretation. This took place between 19 and 23 August and was conducted online via WebEx, with live speakers in an attempt to imitate the test conditions as much as possible.

We are happy to report that two candidates passed the consecutive accreditation test, and they will now be added to the common ACI list.

During both parts of the PASS programme, experienced and motivated staff interpreters from the European Parliament and SCIC, as well as an external stress management coach, organised a series of exercises aimed at boosting the performance of candidates and providing a final polishing before the tests.

Without the close involvement of colleagues from the three respective Danish units and additional support from the English, French and Spanish units – as well as Unit B1 in SCIC and the European Parliament test office - it would not have been possible to make a success of this PASS programme. A heartfelt thank you to you all!

The two successful candidates will help us meet the urgent need for Danish interpreters and they are eager to begin working for the institutions.
