Welcoming both familiar and new faces
The kick-off meeting of the new EMT network for 2024-29 took place in Brussels on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 October 2024. After a warm, welcoming speech by DGT’s Director-General, Mr Christos Ellinides, the members of the 81 EMT programmes elected their new board and celebrated the new network’s launch. As well as EMT members, colleagues from DGT, SCIC and EAC, along with members of the LIND Expert Group attended the meeting.
As part of its new mandate for 2024-29, the EMT network welcomed 14 new members, who had the chance to receive the most up-to-date information about the network, make new contacts and discuss the EMT’s new priorities and objectives.
Also, on Thursday evening, the Director-General presented all members with their participation certificates, drafted in their own language.
Friday was also busy with many interesting contributions that helped navigate EMT members through projects like:
- the European University Alliances
- the Knowledge Centre on Interpretation (to which DGT will soon be associated)
- the Translating Europe Project and Translating Europe workshops.
The final sessions of the day concerned better industry-academia cooperation between the network and the LIND Expert Group.
